Here's the Beef! Taking Stock of Sales in Japan's Liberalized Market
The elimination of Japan's import quotas will present significant export opportunities to U.S. beef producers over the long term. Industry sources estimate that U.S. beef exports will more than double by the year 2000. However, in the short term, Japanese imports are expected to drop slightly to 350,000 metric tons in 1991 as the trade adjust to temporary distortions in the market.
