The sole surviving painting created by Plains Indian artist Amos Bad Heart Bull has recently resurfaced in a private collection (Pls. II-VI). The painted textile depicts the Battle of the Little Bighorn in the Montana Territory in 1876, during which the Indians annihilated the attacking force of United States troops led by Lieutenant-Colonel George Armstrong Custer (1839-1876).
