Industrial fans range from simple units blowing air on a worker to keep him cool, to models for HVAC systems, to large versions supplying air or material handling services to sophisticated process operations.

Fans are divided into two general classes: axial and centrifugal. Axial fans are available in propeller, tubeaxial, and vaneaxial versions; and centrifugal equipment is produced with forward curved, backward inclined, and radial blades, depending on the direction of blade curvature at the air delivery edge.
