WCC sees enrollment growth in Mount Vernon.

Westchester Community College said enrollment should double by next year at the new Mount Vernon extension center the school opened last summer.

This fall, 687 students are attending classes at the $1.2 million extension site, within the former Sears store at 175 Gramatan Ave. That number is already double the enrollment of 300 when the 16,000-square-foot center opened.

Enrollment is projected to jump again to over 1,000 by fall 2004, said Talbert Spence, the community college's assistant dean for continuing education. By then, he said, the center is ...
