During the annual Computer, Policy, and Law seminar at Cornell University this past July, one of the seminar's faculty members chatted late into the evening with a student bartender. In response to a Harry Potter joke, the student asked the faculty member if he had read the fifth book in the series. The faculty member indicated that he had, in fact, bought the book and was currently reading it with his daughter. The student then revealed that he had downloaded a copy from the Internet the previous week, apparently within days of the American release.
