SCOTTISH sprint legend Allan Wells has tipped Lee McConnell to hit the Olympic heights in Athens next year by winning a medal.

Wells, who was on hand to pass on some sound advice to McConnell and four more of Scotland's Olympic hopefuls in Glasgow yesterday, knows what it takes to make the podium having won gold in the 100m in Moscow 23 years ago.

And though 400m star McConnell has yet to rediscover the form which took her to Commonwealth silver and European bronze in 2002, Wells believes she will peak in time for next year's big event.
