Neural-network technology holds promise in embedded applications, including image recognition and vibration control. However, the different architectures of neural-network integrated circuits limit and define the suitable applications. Neural networks are ideal for such applications as character recognition, bomb detection, financial analysis and target classification, where pattern recognition is required. Neural-network integrated circuit design manufacturers include Intel and their leading product, the 80170NX ETANN, an electrically trainable, analog neural-network integrated circuit.
