Biz, prices increase for acetate linings. (acetate taffeta in demand for apparel linings)

NEW YORK -- Acetate taffeta for linings is in fairly vigorous demand and is firming up in price as this fabric emerges from a slow period of low demand earlier in the year.

Sellers say the 92x56 acetate taffeta, which is the major apparel lining fabric, is selling well and is looking good for future business. Weaving mill quotations are said to be at about 70 to 73 cents a yard for fourth-quarter delivery, compared with a level of roughly 56 cents during a depressed market in the fourth quarter of last year and in this year's first quarter.
