It was supposed to be that Peter Sussman, the COO of the Entertainment Group for Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc., would stop doing films on World War II. He figured that the movies they produced in the past years covered more than enough angles of the Second World War. But then somebody from his creative team suggested a Hitler movie. And what seduced Peter to the project was this angle how Adolph Hitler rose to power!
