History lesson comes to life Revolutionary War re-enactors bring battle front to school.(Neighbor)

British and American forces set up camps last week - right outside St. Zachary School in Des Plaines.
The display was part of a Revolutionary War re-enactment for more than 400 Catholic school students. It featured actual 18th century cannons and rifles, more than a dozen costumed actors, and lots of hands-on activities for the students.
Seven local Catholic schools participated: St. Zachary, Our Lady of Destiny in Des Plaines, St. Alphonsus Liguori in Prospect Heights, St. Emily in Mount Prospect, St. Colette in ...
