FIELD MARSHAL Montgomery was gay. So says his authorised biographer, Nigel Hamilton. In fact the suggestion is that Britain's most famous World War II commander was a repressed, rather than a practising, homosexual. Mr Hamilton admits he has no proof of Monty having had a physical relationship with the young boys whom he befriended, but claims he has letters which imply homo-erotic feelings.
