THE old guard was back in control of the Tories last night as Michael Howard and Ken Clarke held talks to decide the party's future.
The last surviving big beasts from the Conservatives' years in power held a summit aimed at uniting the party in the wake of Iain Duncan Smith's disastrous reign.
With six days left until nominations close, the party's big guns appear to have already stitched up the leadership.
