THE prime minister of Bangladesh, Begum Khaleda Zia (above), officially launched the first passenger train service to use the Jamuna bridge rail link on August 14. The mixed-gauge rail link joins for the first time the country's eastern metre-gauge network with the broad-gange network in the west using the Jamuna road-rail bridge.
