A SPIRITED performance, which gladdened the hearts of their fans not to mention that of new manager Alvin McDonald,earned Northwich a surprise, yet deserved, victory over their full-time Nationwide Conference rivals in a gripping FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie at Wincham Park.

Vics'first win in 13 games not only earned them a welcome pounds 10,000 cheque,but the prospect of more much- needed cash from a first round trip on November 8 to Third Division strugglers Kidderminster Harriers,managed by Jan Molby.
