El presente articulo intenta establecer un entramado de relaciones intertextuales entre la produccion del musico-poeta, Agustin Lara y la tradicion de escritura hispanoamericana conocida como modernismo. Esta tematica se aborda desde un eje fundamental: la construccion de la imagen femenina. A partir de la Mujer Divina, paradigma del modernismo, se estudia centralmente la fragmentacion del rostro y del cuerpo, como estrategia de apropiacion de la femeneidad por parte del sujeto enamorado.
