IF A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND words, then in the business world, a chart may be worth a thousand points of data. It's certainly easier to see trends and relationships by looking at a graph than by scanning lists of numbers.

Conventional 2-D graphs don't always tell the whole story, because they only show the relationship between two factors. You might, for example, reduce a year's activity to 12 vertical bars by putting Sales on the y-axis and Months on the x-axis.
