Comedian Bob Hope logged more than 10 million air miles traveling to see the troops. He entertained more than 12 million military people during 700 trips in the United States, the North Atlantic, Caribbean, Europe, North Africa, Middle East, Pacific and Southeast Asia. In essence, he served a 50-year career in the U.S. armed forces.
Though the only uniform he ever wore might have been for a skit, "Bob Hope served our nation when he went to battlefields to entertain thousands of troops from different generations," said President George W. Bush.
