Before heading off to a trade mission to Germany, Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski struck a blow for clean politics by vetoing a bill that would have strengthened undesirable bonds between lobbyists and lawmakers.

House Bill 3328, approved by the 2003 Legislature, would have permitted lobbyists to treat public officials' relatives to all-expense-paid trips when those relatives accompanied lawmakers on public business.
