Over the years, Senegal has developed as a credible alternative to East Africa's countries thanks to a strong commitment to tourism. However, the country suffers from a lack of diversification: France, the previous colonial power, represents 70% of all arrivals and investments. Three regions concentrate more than 70% of all capacities. Recent grounding of the supranational air carrier Air Afrique adds to the difficulties of the country to promote itself more actively on international markets.
