Midland road safety watchdogs have condemned today's planned fuel protest on the roads as irresponsible and dangerous.

Hauliers, motorists and taxi drivers are just some the groups being encouraged to join the 60second protest, organised by the People's Fuel Lobby, the organisation behind the fuel depot blockades in September 2000.

The PFL want drivers across the UK to stop their cars on roads for one minute at 8.30 this morning.

The protest has been prompted by Chancellor Gordon Brown's expected announcement of a 1.28 pence per litre ...
