Jul. 1--NEWPORT, R.I.-- Reports of jai alai's demise are apparently premature.

The sport on which Newport Grand Jai Alai was founded 27 years ago will continue until the enactment of state legislation permitting it to end, according to general manager and co-owner Diane S. Hurley.

But after that, she said, the game is over.
