Michael McAuley and Anne-Marie Faiola had no idea that four years after they started Bramble Berry, a soap making supplies company, they would be generating $1.4 million of business in the year 2002.
McAuley and Faiola, a husband-and-wife duo, started the Bramble Berry Soap Co. in 1999 with $15,000 worth of supplies bought on a credit card. Michael was making $600 a month as an intern. This was enough to pay for the mortgage but not to pour money into a business.
