Port authority calls for bids on widening, deepening Papeete harbour entry.

07 AUGUST 2003 PAPEETE (Pacnews) - The Papeete Port Authority has called for bids to widen and deepen the ship entrance through the coral reef pass into Papeete Harbour in French Polynesia.

The call for bids specifies that the pass be widened to 220 metres, and allows for three possible new depths - 12.5 metres, 13.5 metres or 14.5 metres. The present pass is 110 metres wide and 10.9 metres deep.

Shipping agencies handling the various passenger and cargo ships calling on the port have requested the work, which is now being ...
