WHAT should it be Ifugao or Igorot? The debate has been going on as far back as I can remember. For decades, Igo-rot was widely used; I would hear my grandparents refer to upland dwellers as igor-rotes, but sometime in the 60s that was considered colonial and offensive. Ifugao took its place, in the same way that Moros were referred to as Muslim Filipinos. However, it remains somewhat confusing.
