Sep. 10--Edward Teller, the "father of the hydrogen bomb," a Hungarian-born physicist who tirelessly promoted the development of nuclear weapons for half a century, died Tuesday at his home on the campus of Stanford University. He was 95 and had been in declining health. He had suffered a stroke a few days earlier.

He was the driving force behind the establishment of the Bay Area's nuclear weapons design lab, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
