Hey runners/walkers, today is the Fox River Half-Marathon in St. Charles. Many are wondering if they should participate in this race or just do their regular long run/walk. This week's column will address the benefits of doing a build-up race before your marathon.

There are many reasons to enter a build-up race before your marathon. First, build-up races tend to increase motivation for the marathon and provide an excellent opportunity to practice pacing, hydrating and fueling during a race.
