Brian Vickers went to school with the Petty children. Some days he rode to school with the Labontes, with Terry occasionally driving.

Soon, the teenager will be racing their fathers in stock-car racing's top series.

Vickers can't wait.

"This has been one of the greatest weeks of my life," says the 19-year-old Thomasville resident, who won at Darlington on Saturday and was selected Tuesday as the driver next season for Rick Hendrick's No. 25 NASCAR Nextel Cup car.
