The Arctic is a remote and seemingly pristine environment, yet Pollutants--including persistent organic pollutants such as PCBs and DDT, heavy metals such as mercury and cadmium, and radionuclides--have made their way to the region, often at harmful levels. The nations and organizations that govern the region all seem to agree on this fact, but it is unclear whether they are able to reach a consensus on how to regulate the toxins or combat their health effects.
