GREENSBORO -- The concept of the Alltel ACC Football Championship at Alltel Stadium may sound like overkill - or perhaps over-call, in this case - but it can't be dismissed as easily as a federally foiled telemarketer. No matter how loudly the purists assail the naming of games, venues and anything else sports-related, the corporate partners of the ACC make the league's championships run. More importantly, their involvement kicked in roughly $5.5 million to each of the conference's nine members in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2002.
