In 1980s Wallerstein and Bernstein (1988) developed a youth centered, intergenerational, experiential prevention program called the Adolescent Social Action Program (ASAP) in New Mexico. The program was found to be efficacious in influencing several process variables such as empathy, critical thinking, belief in the group action, and some impact variables such as extent of participation in social action among the participants.
