2003 AUG 11 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Acetylcholine is a critical nervous system signaling molecule. In diseases such as Parkinson, blocking the actions of acetylcholine can reduce symptoms, while in Alzheimer the opposite is true - boosting acetylcholine's effects can be beneficial. In still other disorders - for example, depression and hypertension - drugs are prescribed that target other molecules, but happen to block acetylcholine as well.
