Pike Place Brewery brews barley wine

Seattle's Pike Place Brewery, one of America's smallest microbreweries, recently began brewing Old Bawdy, the Northwest's first barley wine-style ale incorporating peated Scottish barley malt.

The peated malt, which imparts a subtle smoky character to the brew reminiscent of Scotch Whiskey, is sprouted barley grain which has been dried over peat fires. Peated malt is also one of the main ingredients in Scotch Malt Whiskey. <...
