SANTA BARBARA, Calif., July 25 (AScribe Newswire) -- Direct Relief International today announced it is responding to an urgent request to provide medical assistance to El Salvador, where outbreaks of bacterial pneumonia have affected 45,000 persons this year and caused 297 deaths. Salvadoran Minister of Health Jose Lopez Beltran declared a "red alert" Wednesday, following the deaths of 7 children under 5 years of age during the preceding 72 hours.
