From 1914-15 Andrew Patrick Wilson, a journalist/columnist for the Irish Worker, the Socialist organ of the Irish Transport and General Workers' Union, was also the manager of the Abbey Theatre, as well as a director, actor and the company's resident dramatist. His term at the theatre was brief and contentious, and it ended in a controversy that has been rewritten and subsequently removed from most of the official histories of the Abbey. Some of his plays have survived, though not in revival, and, if remembered at all, Wilson would be rated a competent if minor playwright. ...
