True North Gems, a Vancouver-based exploration company, reports their Ghost Lake property near Dryden in northwestern Ontario has the potential for gem-quality emeralds.
It may be the second potential emerald occurrence in Canada.
The company extracted a 500-kilogram sample from a mineralized emerald exposure zone resulting in several gem and near-gem emeralds being observed. True North expects to determine the chromium content of the emeralds found, which should add to their potentially high gem quality.
