The phrase "thinking the unthinkable" may be in danger of overuse since Sept. 11 2001, but speakers at this year's Lloyd's Market Association-International Underwriting Association seminar were ready to do just that.

Events with potential for the demise of the insurance industry were examined by Dr Nikolaus von Bombard of Munich Re who said doomsday events belonged either belonged to the 'Big Bang' category or the 'Creeping Death' category.
