Jul. 8--Will Shafroth is attempting to merge environmental philanthropy with the basics of big business from a tiny office in Boulder.

Shafroth, the former executive director of Great Outdoors Colorado, has spent the past two years creating and managing the Colorado Conservation Trust, a four-person nonprofit group that doles out cash and spearheads research efforts to help protect Colorado's environmental landscape.
