Reading takes a little extra effort for Doug Pederson.

Pederson, 37, of Fulton, has a learning disability that affects his reading comprehension. Eight months ago, he started meeting with Marge Faulkner, a tutor with Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County. Since then, he's made major improvements.

"I'm a lot more confident," Pederson said this week during his weekly tutoring session in Oswego, "and I'm meeting new people and learning new things."
