GENEVA, Switzerland (AFP) El Nino, the weather pattern which has been blamed for extreme conditions in many areas around the Pacific Ocean, is over for 2003, the World Meteorological Organisation said on Friday.

"The likelihood of El Nino returning during 2003 is now considered very small," the Geneva-based WMO said in a statement.
