DALLAS _ Perhaps the only real surprise in Hunter Mahan's decision to turn pro early was that he waited so long. He seems more than ready for the PGA Tour.

Mahan is only 21, but he carries 11 years of experience with him to his professional debut next week at the Western Open.

The McKinney, Texas, resident won more than 100 junior titles, pulled a Tiger Woods on the field with his 13-stroke victory at the Big 12 Championship, and ended his junior season at Oklahoma State with the Jack Nicklaus Award as collegiate player of the year.
