JACK McCONNELL has revealed for the first time how he has struggled to regain the trust of his wife after he betrayed her by having an extramartial affair.

Mr McConnell famously confessed as he stood for the post of First Minister two years ago that he had engaged in an adulterous relationship with a former Labour Party activist.

Now, in a frank and revealing interview, he has admitted he had to work hard to repair his marriage to his wife Bridget, the head of Glasgow City Council's culture and leisure services department.
