Jun. 25--Drivers re...uired to undergo smog checks in the early days of a new anti-smog program could pay at least $70 for an upgraded test that used to cost $30.
The Smog Check II program starts July 1 in the Bay Area, when vehicles will be tested for more emissions than before. Some service station owners predict high prices will persist until enough businesses offer the new test to create price competition.
