Jun. 24--Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. has reduced by $10 million the likely budget cut for the University System of Maryland, which university officials say will result in a slightly lower tuition increase and fewer layoffs than they had been considering.
The Board of Regents finance committee had been planning to vote yesterday to increase the fall tuition by almost 20 percent from a year ago.
