Scaasi's Couture Cut

NEW YORK -- If you've ever longed for a Scaasi couture number, this may be the time to place your order. "Because of the recession, I'm lowering my prices 15 percent for the moment," said Arnold Scaasi after his spring made-to-order show. But as soon as the economy bounces back Arnold's prices will bounce right back too.

Despite lower prices, there were no signs of hard times in his salon Monday. Scassi sent out voluminous cashmere cape coats, yards of embroidery and silk satin ribbon woven to look like gingham.
