PROVIDENCE, R.I. _ You'd think that with the existence of the Big East hanging by a thread, Tim Welsh's world might be collapsing around him. If that's the case, the Providence College basketball coach isn't showing it.

Perhaps more than any other school in the conference, Providence depends on the Big East for so much. Financial solvency, glamour opponents, a national stage, the ticket to premier recruits. Without the Big East stage, PC's entire program would be in jeopardy.
