Troutman's Emporium is history, but an entrepreneur with Pendleton roots plans to reopen three of the department stores in Eastern Oregon in late summer.

Neal Jones, an Arizona resident whose family owns the Melanie Square shopping center in Pendleton, said he will open the shuttered Emporium in the center this September. He also plans to open the closed Emporiums in LaGrande and John Day about the same time.

The stores, to be called Jones Emporium, will have no connection other than the name to the bankrupt ...
