USS Constellation Decommissioning Work Awarded to United Defense's San Diego Shipyard.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 9, 2003

United Defense Industries (NYSE:UDI) announced a $1,893,608 contract award to its Southwest Marine (SWM) shipyard, here, for decommissioning work on "America's flagship," aircraft carrier, the USS CONSTELLATION (CV-64).

The ship, homeported in San Diego, is one of three non-nuclear-powered carriers in the fleet. SWM is performing the work under a contract awarded by NAVSEA San Diego at Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI), Coronado, Calif. Completion is scheduled for September 12, 2003.
