Those mountains of Cumbria are so imposing that it's easy to overlook the business flourishing in their shadows. Indeed, the people who press for inward investment, and who have had some nail-biting moments recently, make that very point.
Companies like brewery and pubs group Jennings and paper specialist James Cropper, as well as retailer Lakeland - the very stuff of a North Top 200 - have provided a bedrock of encouragement for potential inward investment over many years.
