Patients with AIDS can present unique challenges to nursing homes. Not only do they tend to be younger than the traditional senior population, they might also suffer from the stigma of being infected with HIV or substance abuse problems. One facility that has met the call to care for these patients is Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center (TCCHCC), a 729-bed skilled nursing facility in New York City sponsored by the Archdiocese of New York and affiliated with New York Medical College.
