Controversial Middle East analyst Daniel Pipes told a University of Wisconsin audience the Palestinian people must accept the existence of Israel if their lives are to improve.

Pipes, speaking in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union on Tuesday night, said the United States is fighting "militant Islam" in its war against terrorism. He said regimes like Saddam Hussein's Iraq and the Taliban in Afghanistan needed to be overthrown to eradicate their fundamentalist stranglehold on society.
